When not fishing: Doing things with my family and working

I began fishing at a very young age, as far back as I can remember. My step dad, Dennis, would plan a trip every year to go to the lake. I stated probably the way most people did, worms and bobbers, sittin’ and waitin’ for the fish to come to you. Then we started taking the boat out, just a 14 foot flat bottom aluminum boat that we frequently loaded down with way to many people, and began trolling. I always enjoyed trolling because you could fish the whole lake and try different areas. Plus, I liked the way the fish would eat it, nothing, nothing, nothing, then BAM! As I got older, I started playing around with different lures and roaming the shore line when we couldn’t be in the boat. At the age of 14 I was reunited with my real dad, Doug, and he introduced me to bass fishing. From the first bass, I decided that was the only way to fish. The go get ’em strategy and the ferocious strikes had me hooked. I continued to fish as much as possible, but just for fun. It wasn’t until 2008 that I decided to try some fishing tournaments. I convinced Doug to fish the family circuit for the White Mountain Bass Club with me instead of my uncle. We won our very first tournament, and there has been no looking back. In the last 4 years, we have fished as many tournaments as possible and I have earned sponsorships from Nitro Boats, Mercury Marine, Show Low Ford, Denali Rods, Bass Pro Shops and A & M Graphics. We also managed to win Team of the Year titles in the Monterey Bass Company Senior Division and the White Mountain Bass Club Team Division in 2011.
